Bio

Michael Steele has worked in the field of public accounting for over 25 years and has operated his boutique tax compliance firm for over ten years. In the tax area, he is skilled at providing federal and multi-state tax compliance and planning, consulting, and IRS examinations for various small businesses, tax-exempt entities, and individuals. His

client base includes multiple small-to-medium-sized businesses, professionals including accountants, doctors, lawyers, and professional athletes playing domestically and internationally. In the accounting area, he provides companies with financial statement compilations and reviews.

 

Prior to establishing his firm, Steele was Partner-in-Charge of Tax Services with Williams, Adley & Company, LLP, a minority-owned CPA firm based in Oakland and Washington DC; spent over seven years with KPMG, a Big 4 accounting firm; and performed tax audits as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) for two and one-half years. In addition to his many years of work experience, Steele earned a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (concentration in Accounting) from California State University, Sacramento. He is licensed in California as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

 

Steele’s professional memberships include the American Institute of CPAs (“AICPA”), the California Society of CPAs, and the National Association of Black Accountants (“NABA”). He was a nominee among the top 10 Outstanding Influential African-Americans of the San Francisco Bay Area in 2004 and has served on the prestigious Group of 100 Committee for the AICPA.

 

Steele serves as a member of the board of directors of A Black Education Network

(ABEN) and Dr. Maya Angelou Foundation.
